Levi’s Launches Into the Modern Frontier

In the same pioneering spirit that inspired Levi Strauss to create his ubiquitous line of clothing in 1873, Levi’s is breaking new ground again on Flipboard. The iconic brand is the first to team with a group of Flipboard contributors to curate content exclusively for a new magazine. The result? Modern Frontier.

The focus of Modern Frontier magazine is to gather articles, images and videos from around the Web to inspire and inform readers. The stories, culled by six guest contributors, center on the innovative thinkers changing the world through creativity and collaboration in the fields of art, culture, technology, style, design, entertainment and food. Tapped to act as the curation team for Modern Frontier are a group of tastemakers with deep expertise in their fields—people like Erica Cerulo and Claire Mazur, co-founders of the limited edition retail site Of a Kind; tech writer Seth Porges; Michael Phillips Moskowitz founder of the men’s shopping destination Bureau of Trade; entertainment journalist Claire Howorth; and Chef Kris Yenbamroong, the owner of Los Angeles-based Night + Market.

This isn’t the only collaboration for Levi’s. This month, the brand joined with artist Doug Aitken to create the public art project Station to Station: A Nomadic Happening. Anchored by a four-week, multi-city cultural festival that crosses the U.S. in an actual train transformed into an art studio, the project merges the talents of leading artists from across disciplines for nine live events throughout the month.
